Project Description
The Carvalo on College is a new 8 story mixed use mid-rise building.
Background
The ground floor includes approximately 18,000 sq’ of retail space and a residential lobby along College Street. The upper floors comprise 112,000 sq’ of residential floor area. This includes 24 luxury condominium suites and 88 rental apartments.
Project Scope
In addition to typical mechanical services the build included a high efficiency VRF system with heat pumps to heat and cool the suites, and a building automation system to maximize energy savings. The particular challenge involved luxury property specifications with suites having multiple layout designs, resulting in much of the piping being off-set and that additional cornering posing more of a challenge when compared to a standard straight-up condo project.
Outcome/Results
The project targets Tier 2 performance under the Toronto Green Standards with energy recovery ventilation units within each suite for high quality and efficient HVAC.
