Project Description
The Base Borden Data Centre was a public private partnership project. The project was developed to consolidate 500 Shared Services Canada data centres throughout the country into one facility. Onyx Mechanical joined the Ehvert consortium for the build.
Background
The design consisted of a 50,000 sq’ data centre which was constructed in four phases. Each phase consisted of a 12,000 sq’ data room with its own infrastructure.
Project Scope
Onyx Mechanical installed KyotoCooling units and free-cooling pumped-refrigerant units with air-side economization. This cooling design is extremely energy efficient, and the facility achieved a Level 3 PUE of 1.32.
Outcome/Results
The facility achieved LEED NC 2009 Silver Certification. Our teams worked successfully within the security parameters governing the properties.
